This image depicts Turtle’s and Stone Woman’s second encounter, during which they dream the Northern Lights and the Great Tides into Being.
BOOK EXCERPT from PART THREE: CEREMONY, Chapter Thirteen
“…For many days and many nights, Turtle swam North, without resting or eating. At last he came upon Stone Woman’s rugged, granite Self as she lay dreaming in the deeps of the stormy, gray-blue North Atlantic. As Stone Woman and Turtle gazed upon one another their hearts opened with love, and without knowing quite how it came to pass, Turtle entered Stone Woman’s Second Dreaming. In her Second Dreaming, Stone Woman dreamed that the Midnight Sky above began to dance in sensuous waves of dark light and vibrant color. It was then that the Northern Lights were born. The newborn Northern Lights flashed and danced, expressing their joyous power, and they shone their dark light and vibrant color directly upon Stone Woman and Turtle in thanks for having been dreamed into Being. The stormy, gray-blue North Atlantic felt the movement of the Northern Lights’ sensuous, vibrant, colorful dance and began to move with them as Stone Woman and Turtle dreamed the Tides into Being. The powerful Tides slowly pulled the waters of the Seas first one way and then another.”
