BOOK EXCERPT from PART THREE: CEREMONY, Chapter Thirteen
“As Stone Woman and Turtle gazed at one another their hearts slowly opened with love and without quite knowing quite how it came to pass, Turtle entered Stone Woman’s First Dreaming. In her First Dreaming, Stone Woman dreamed a new age in which the new land she was fated to become slowly began to take form. As Stone Woman and Turtle lay dreaming together, the new land slowly rose upwards from her great rugged body, as blue as the sea through which it rose, as rugged as the granite bedrock she had become. As the new land continued to rise upwards, the cold, stormy waters of the North Atlantic washed over it, creating huge, foaming waves and great whirlpools above its tallest peaks and deepest valleys. (One of those whirlpools still exists today, just off the new land’s rugged coast.) Yet there was something about this new land that was incomplete, for it was barren and cold, and most of it lay just beneath the surface of that wild sea.”
